St Teresa Boys School - Nairobi

1. The school was founded in 1947 after St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. It was founded
together with St. Teresa’s Boys Primary school at the Catholic Church’s stead
compound along the first avenue EastLeigh. The founders are Holy family cathedral fathers, and then handed over to the white fathers who are the missionaries of Africa. The reason for founding was to educate Goan Community residing in East Leigh and Pangani who were catholic faithful or parishioners of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in East Leigh.

2. The school was officially opened in February 1955

3. It was registered at the registrar of society’s in the year 1961, Certificate number 2295 in 1st Avenue Eastleigh LR/36/NO. 12.

4. We used to share the same premises with St. Teresa’s Boys Primary school at Church Compound 1st Avenue East Leigh kunguru Street where the Boys primary is today until the year 1988 May when we moved from there to this site where we are today situated in 2nd Avenue Eastleigh Pindi Lane. This was meant for St. Teresa’s Boyslower primary approach, thus from pre -primary to STD 3. So we interchanged the lower primary went up to the 1st Avenue and we came here.

Note that this building was blessed by late His Imminence Cardinal Maurice Otunga then Arch Bishop of Nairobi Arch diocese on 31 st October 1981. On the same day this building was opened by his Excellency Mwai Kibaki by then was the Vice President and the Minister for finance of the Republic of Kenya. This was done shortly after he had conducted a joint P.T.A Harambee fund rising in did of our 4 schools thus Boys and Girls Primary and secondary Schools.

There used to be one B.O.G & P.T.A for St. Teresa’s Boys and girls Secondary schools until 1986. Our then Bursar late Herry Ogonda was shared among the two schools until 1987.

The major problem is dropping from higher academic grades to lower academic grades

5. The school started with one stream later double. In 1981 a 3rd stream started, Thus form 4C but 3 streams did not continue due to insufficient classrooms.

6. Since 1995 to the present the school management has built enough Class rooms.

7. Since 1995 to the present school management has built enough classrooms to cater for the 3 streams form 1A to form 4C. And through striving excellence the school Motto is "Kujua Kupenda Kutumikia" To know, to Love and to Serve.
