Former Chairman of the now defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya Samuel Kivuitu has died. Mr Kivuitu died on Monday night at the MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi.

Reports indicate that he passed away as the second Presidential debate was going on at Brookhouse International School.
According to family sources, Mr Kivuitu collapsed moments after he underwent some xray scans at the hospital.
Mr Kivuitu, 74, has been battling throat cancer that has seen him in an out of hospital. During the Christmas period, he was admitted at a Nairobi hospital fighting the ailment. He has been in and out of hospital for the past two years.
