Ikuu Boys High School Description/ History
Ikuu Boys High School is a religious organisation sponsored boys’ boarding school located in Mwonge Sub location, in Tharaka – Nithi County.The school started in 1964 as provincial day secondary school in the ground occupied by the current Ikuu girls high school.It started under sponsorship of Presbyterian Church of East Africa. The school was later moved to its current place closer to the Meru- Nairobi highway in 1965.
Ikuu boys high school remained a single streamed school up to 1978 when the first double stream was introduced and later in 1981 an A level class was introduced into the school. The school later in 1996 expanded to become three streamed and it continued to expand its facilities.
In 2006 the school was officially upgraded to a provincial boarding school and registered as a four streamed school by the quality assurance officers who came to access the school though it lacked the facilities to cater for the four streams.
For over fifteen years now the school has remained in the top hundred best performed schools in the country.
