Junet Mohamed Biography
Junet Mohamed born (Junet Noor Mohammed) is the Suna East Member of National Assembly (MP). The outspoken legislator is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and was first elected Suna East MP in 2013 and re-elected in the August 8, 2017, general elections as Suna East Member of Parliament for a second time.
The constituency which he represents is in Migori County and is dominated by ethnic Luos. In spite of being an ethnic Somali, he has been able to conquer Nyanza politics and has been embraced by Luos fully.

The Suna East Member of Parliament was born on 25 October 1977 in Migori town Kenya. He is 41 years old as of 2018. Junet was raised in the same town of birth (Migori).
Junet Mohamed Family
Junet is the son of Sheikh Nuh Mohamed (father). He is the second born in a family of nine. His father settled in Migori town where he set up a wholesale business in the 1970s. Although Junet has his roots in Mandera, he was born and raised in Migori town. Junet says Migori is his home and he would want to leave a legacy.
Junet Mohamed Wife
Junet is married to a beautiful wife and professes the Islamic faith which gives him the leeway to add another wife. His wife is known as Deka Jamaa. Together the couple is blessed with five children.
Junet Mohamed Education
Mohamed did his primary education in Migori primary and went on to Lenana High School in Nairobi for his secondary studies, and eventually, the University of Nairobi where he pursued a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.
Junet Mohamed Career
Junet became the first Kenyan Somali to be elected Member of the National Assembly in Nyanza Province and to be precise Migori county. Although Junet is a former Migori town Mayor, having been nominated as a councillor in 2003, Mohamed rose to become the first MP of the new Suna East constituency, in Nyanza.
In the nominations, the MP beat strong candidates who included former area MPs John Pesa and Owino Likowa, to win the Orange Democratic Movement party ticket. And in the General Election, in 2013 beat a host of candidates, to capture the seat, hived off from the former Migori constituency.
Speaking after he was declared the winner, Junet said unlike most parliamentary candidates who won on the basis of their clans, he had an all-inclusive campaign team. He said his leadership would be all-inclusive and acceptable by all constituents to move ahead together. Coming from a ‘minority’ community and vying against an incumbent, Junet was aware he needed to stage an effective campaign to attract many people.
The MP ensured his campaign was coordinated by people from all parts of the constituency to make them own the process. “The constituents had to come up with what they wanted the MP to do for them,” Junet said adding that he formed a number of campaign teams in every location. Another thing that worked for the former councillor, is that although he has his roots in Mandera, Junet was born and bred in Migori town where he has many friends. The parliamentarian is serving for his second term after he was re-elected in the August 8, 2017, general elections as Suna East Member of Parliament. He is also serving as the National Assembly Minority Chief Whip. He is a close Raila Odinga associate.

Junet is the Member of the National Assembly representing Suna East constituency in Migori county in Nyanza region. He is the member of Orange Democratic Movement and he first won the parliamentary seat on 10th March 2013 and he was re-elected on 8th February 2013 general election of Orange Democratic Movement for the second time.
