Kangundo Town is a town in Kagundo constituency of Eastern province, Kenya. Kagundo is about one and a half hours from Nairobi.
Kangundo is a town in Kenya’s Machakos County in the lower eastern region of Kenya. It is usually classified as being one town with Tala, due to their close proximity.
Officially Kangundo’s population is the 9th largest of any urban area inthe whole of Kenya.
Economic Activities in Kangundo Town
Most of the people living in this area are predominantly Kambas whose main occupation is small-scale farming and livestock keeping. There are also people from other areas who are engaged in small scale business in this trading centre. They include the Kikuyu, Luos, Luhya, Merus, and Somalis. The market day is on Sundays for Kangundo town. People who come to trade in this town on market day come mainly from Nairobi, Machakos, Thika and other parts of the adjacent divisions. They sell their goods such as livestock products, farm produce, clothes, electronic goods, livestock etc and in turn buy goods brought from them.
