Gloria Muliro Music Career

Gloria Muliro loved music right from a tender age. Having been born in a musical family, she drew a lot of inspiration from her mum, and her siblings, whom they sang together in Sunday school and school choir. “Every December, my sisters and I participated in Church Choir singing mainly Christmas carols (amalako), and on Christmas day we would compete with other groups”. She says. Even then, Gloria Muliro hadn’t realized that she had a ministry in her. It wasn’t until 2001 that she responded to the call of God, and began music as a career. It wasn’t an easy start since she was gripped by fear and very low self-esteem, which affected the sound of her voice, and she almost gave up singing, as she sounded horrible.“At that time I learnt how to tell it to God as it is and as I gave Him all my fears and struggles, He granted me the strength and Grace” says Gloria Muliro. “I also drew a lot of inspiration from established artistes, among them the late Angela Chibalonza, the Iconic Gospel legend”. She adds. Muliro joined the worship team of Maranatha Faith Assemblies, where she was a member. It is then that Rolland Esese and the late Stanely Mtambo introduced her to live band music and walked her through the training.

Gloria Muliro first came into the limelight in 2005 when she recorded her first album ‘Omwami Aletsa’ (my God will surely come),which received massive airplay especially on local radio stations. In 2005 she releasing her first studio album entitled Omwami Aletsa (The Lord is Coming). Gloria Muliro- Msaidizi Africa Initiatives

Gloria Muliro founded Msaidizi Africa Initiatives in 2016, it provides a platform where Talents are discovered, nurtured and mentored to maximum potential. MSAIDIZI is a Swahili word meaning HELPER,

My Musical journey started with diverse struggles which would have been made easy with mentorship and direction. I must recognize the great effort of fellow musicians that went ahead of us and laid a foundation of spirit filled and Bible based songs that have continually inspired me till now. There seems to be gap between the former and current generation of artists in terms of content, mentorship and Ministry. Regardless of the tremendous Growth experienced in the Gospel Music industry, there are still challenges that need to be addressed and Msaidizi Africa initiative (MAI) aims at bridging the gap. Mentorship is a critical issue now in the Gospel Industry which informs our Vision, Will seek to Discover, nurture Uprising and raw Gospel artists across all counties in Kenya. The desire is to spread the same model not only in Kenya but beyond to include all nations in Africa. MAI intends to work with National Government, Counties, Church Leaders, Youth Group leaders, learning and Correctional institutions to achieve the desired and shared objectives. MAI will not work directly with the artists; will coordinate through their leadership either at Church, institution(s) or Parents for accountability.”

Gloria Muliro married Pastor Eric Omba Miko in 2009. After 5years of marriage they seperated with Gloria citing infedility and love of money on his husband side.

Gloria Muliro revealed that the first insight into his love for money was during the night of their honeymoon. Eric reportedly waited for her to go to the bathroom and before going through the gifts they had received at the wedding, and took the money from the envelopes and stashed it in his pockets.

This, however, did not make Gloria leave as she believed in marriage and the African culture that it is a woman’s role to keep a marriage together and so, she says, she stayed put because she thought it would work.

Gloria Muliro Husband – Pastor Eric Omba Miko

Gloria Muliro married Pastor Eric Omba Miko in 2009 in a colourful wedding, but walked out of the marriage, citing infidelity.

Gloria Muliro told Tukuza that she was now happy, having found peace which had eluded her before.

“One of the things I appreciate and will never take for granted is peace. One time, I remember asking to understand how peace feels like. I was lost, but God found me and I have collected myself. The person you are looking at now is very different now,” said Gloria, adding that she had known her hubby was seeing a ‘side mattress’ as far back as January. Her friends reportedly had told her about her husband’s affair, but she chose to ignore them.

In an earlier interview, Gloria Muliro said that she did not want to deal with outsiders, but God decided to show her the truth. Gloria had revealed that Eric who was also her manager started being a control freak and dictated everything around her career and worse, began misappropriating funds earned from her music career.

Gloria Muliro Wedding

During that interview, Gloria Muliro revealed that the first insight into his love for money was during the night of their honeymoon. Eric reportedly waited for her to go to the bathroom and before going through the gifts they had received at the wedding, and took the money from the envelopes and stashed it in his pockets.

Gloria Muliro Marriage

Gloria Muliro said that cracks began emerging during the first month after Eric began accusing “me of all manner of things and never gave me time to talk. He even wrote down a set of rules that I had to follow. In that first month, he sent me over to a friend’s place saying to teach me how to cook and keep good hygiene only to discover that I was being turned into a house girl,” said Gloria. She added that: “He went back to our house and expressed delight at how he was happy at home without me. In the first year, he packed my clothes and asked to escort me away. He had gotten violent over time and he offered no space for communication and dialogue,” the Sitolia hit maker claims.

“Someone may ask why it took me five years. I was determined to make it work. I am not saying I tried my best, no. I did my all best in fact,” said Gloria.

“People may criticise from afar but they have no idea what I was going through. Only the few people in my circle know and can tell,” she said. “It has been a challenge and a learning process. Through it all, I have learnt a lot of lessons. It wasn’t easy,” she added.
