Josephat Koli Nanok Biography

Josephat Koli Nanok was born in 1950. He is a Kenyan politician the governor of Turkana county, alongside deputy governor Peter Ekai Lokoel. He is a member of Orange Democratic Movement and a coalition member of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy.

Turkana County is quite expansive in size and due to its location next to Kenya’s Northern border has experienced drastic marginallization over the years. The standards of living in the County are regrettably low with the living conditions being extremely difficult. The level of education is also low with access to basic services, such as hospitals and water, almost no-existent. Yet, due to the recent oil and water discoveries, the county is potentially the richest in Kenya. Nanok will have one of the most challenging tasks of ensuring that the staggering resource base in the county is converted to tangible everyday benefits for the residents of the county.
