Lenny Kivuti – My choppers will end water shortage

Embu Senator has deployed his personal helicopters to map out areas to construct dams in his county.

Senator Lenny Kivuti’s company, Geomaps Africa, was involved in the survey, while the choppers airlifted personnel to carry out the work.

The planned multi-billion shilling dams include Thuci, Kamumu, Rupingazi and Thabana.

“Thuci dam will cost Sh12 billion, while Kamumu dam is estimated to cost Sh15 billion. The project is intended to transform Mbeere and Embu regions into food baskets. Women will no longer trek long distances carrying jerrycans of water on their backs,” said Kivuti after officially opening a lab at Kanyueri Secondary School in Mbeere North where he also donated Sh500,000 for the construction of a dormitory.

The four dams will hold and supply most of the water in the county and parts of the neighbouring Kirinyaga, Tharaka-Nithi, Machakos and Kitui counties.

The senator has a bachelor’s degree in Geometric Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in Geographical Information Sciences from City University London.
