What to do at Rapids Camp Sagana
Enjoy time communing with nature at the lush and scenic grounds right by the River Sagana with the magnificent waterfalls and clear skies for company. Rapids Camp enjoys partnerships with a range of camping associations such as Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forest Services, making our Camp the best place to camp in Kenya.
For small and large groups, the lush grounds at the Rapids Camp provide a great environment for fun picnics. You can carry packed snacks or have the Camp staff organize some food for your group. Take in the scenic grounds and listen to the majestic falls as you leisurely have your meal.
Whether for a birthday, a family reunion or an end-year office party, the Rapids Camp offers the ultimate environment for a true celebration. We also have evening celebrations next to our bonfire and the night camp fire for bonding for an endless party.
At Rapids Camp, every first Saturday of every month is Nyama Choma Day. Certainly, the undisputed truly Kenyan practice is eating Nyama Choma; as it’s not just the meat itself but the whole experience. Nyama Choma at the Rapids Camp is made even more novel because the meal is served at a spot overlooking the grandeur of the Rapids waterfalls.
White Water Rafting
For the adventure seekers, enjoy the adrenaline rush high when rafting in River Tana which provides grade3- 5 rapids. Rapids Camp is amongst the few places in Kenya which offers white water rafting due to its massive and magnificent waterfall.
With its plunging height of 40 ft, the Rapids waterfall and the subsequent wild waters of the Sagana River is a great place for kayaking. The Camp has experienced instructors to guide the experts and introduce the amateurs to kayaking.
For the expert birdwatchers or the amateurs, Rapids Camp offers an opportunity to learn and observe a variety of birds ranging from the grassland crane to guinea fowl in their natural habitats in Kenya
Game fishing at the Rapids Camp takes place right next to the amazing Rapids waterfalls which keep you company as you haul in a good catch of fish including Tilapia and Cat fish.

Bungee Jumping ,Sagana Kenya
An adrenalin pumping ground activity at the Rapids Camp that involves a dive from a structure 60m in height for that exhilarating free falling sensation. The thrill comes as much from the free-falling as from the rebounds and gives you a totally exhilarating feeling.
River trekking is a combination of trekking and climbing and sometimes swimming along the river. It involves particular techniques like, climbing on wet surfaces, understanding the geographical features of river and valleys, finding out possible exits from the river. Sagana and Mathioya rivers offers perfect place for this type of river activity.
River glides involve sliding into a whirlpool that spins you around a number of times before you are spilled into the mighty Sagana River in a section of the river that has grade 3 rapids. A life vest keeps you afloat and buoyant once you are thrown into the river.
This is the equivalent of surfing in the ocean where you can ride the waves of the Sagana River just as one does on the ocean. The board is attached to your hand for your safety and depending on the wind you can either have a fast ride or a casual escapade on the lazy river waves.
Both for education and for fun, river trekking can be done at both amateur and professional levels. The walks can be as short as 300m or as long as 2km.
