Wazito Fc Archives
Wazito Fc Club is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. Wazito Football Club was formed in 2011 by the University of Nairobi soccer team and the alumni members of the soccer team. Experienced players mentor the students on career paths and life experiences.
The network has created morally upright students who have got jobs upon graduation. After training together with the students for some time the alumni members decided they could form one strong team to compete in the league. In order to build team identity, the 2011 season Wazito played in a lot of friendlies against the league sides and participated in tournaments.
Wazito currently plays in the Kenya Premier League of the Federation of Kenya Football (FKF), the first tier league in the country.
Wazito Fc Owner
Wazito Fc is owned by Badoer Investments Limited as the majority shareholder.
Wazito Fc New Bus
FC journey to elite status began the way a lot of these things begin: in 2018, a cigar-smoking Dubai-based investor silently approached the team’s founders and reached a deal to acquire a controlling stake in the club. But it is only in the last few months that Wazito Football Club players and managers began to understand that Ricardo Badoer was up to something big. His vow to transform Wazito FC – a National Super League caliber team relegated from the Premier League – has gathered momentum with the club getting world-class jerseys, and constant lashing whenever they under-perform.
The team’s determination is paying back as Ricardo opens his wallet further, rewarding the team with a brand new Mercedes Benz worth Ksh12 million. The 45-seater bus will be used for the team’s transport to and from training and match fixtures. Ricardo Badoer, the founder of Badoer Investments Limited and club’s President, saluted the achievements of the Wazito Football Club, which has a comparatively short history having been founded in 2011 and said.
“The boys have trained hard and devoted many hours practicing their skills under the team coach Fred Ambani,” he said when he officially handed over the bus to the team in Nairobi. “They have played enthusiastically and shrugged off a few lost matches and focused on the objective.”
Wazito Fc New Coach
Wazito’s Fred Ambani and Stanley Okumbi have become the first Kenyan Premier League coaching casualties of the season. Ambani and Okumbi have been fired as the club’s Head Coach and Technical Director respectively just six matches into the season. With their resources both on and off the pitch and unwavering support from their ever-demanding club owner Ricardo Badoer, many had expected Wazito to make a stunning impact and even challenge for the title on their return to the top flight.
However, with just six points from six matches and three places above the danger zone, the club’s management has been forced to act quickly by firing Ambani and Okumbi who have reportedly been having a frosty relationship. Immediate former assistant coach Hamisi Mohamed will temporarily take charge of the team as the management continues to shop for Ambani’s permanent successor.

Wazito FC appoint Melis Medo as new head coach
Kenyan premier league side Wazito FC has announced the appointment of Melis Medo as their new head coach. The American-Egyptian tactician takes over with immediate effect and will be assisted by Hamisi Mohamed who was on Monday named team’s interim coach.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dennis Gicheru through their official website hailed the new coach stating that the club has full confidence in him.
Mr. Gicheru added that the management will accord him all the necessary support to ensure that he is successful.“After careful consideration, we settled on Melis Medo. He is a quality coach and having coached Kenyan Premier League teams before he understands Kenyan football well and we have full confidence in him. We believe that he will do a good job with the team. He will be accorded all the necessary support to ensure that he succeeds here,” Gicheru told wazito-fc.com.
Melis Medo’s first coaching job was at Mt. Kenya United and after a good run with United, he moved to Sofapaka at the start of the 2018/19 season before returning to the USA.“I want to thank the club management for believing in me. I will do my best here to ensure that the team is successful. I understand the club’s philosophy and vision and I will work closely with everyone in the team to ensure that we succeed. I am excited about this new challenge and I promise to give my best,” Medo said.
Wato Fc Players
Wazito FC players are starring at a potential sack after their boss Ricardo Badoer demanded improved results. In a tweet on Monday, Badoer warned that he will replicate what he did with head coach Fred Ambani and technical director Stanley Okumbi if results do not improve.
“There is no need to explain this decision [to sack technical bench members] and within a day or two, our new head coach will be presented. Saying all that I need also to remind Wazito FC players to step up and bring their A-game back or else they will also be kicked out,” he tweeted. The 2018 National Super League (NSL) champions started their maiden Kenya Premier League (KPL) season poorly and the latest lose to Kakamega Homeboyz forced management to ax the coach and technical director who had a great 2018/2019 season.
“I would like to thank coach Ambani and coach Okumbi for their great service to the club. They did a tremendous job during their time here and we wish them all the best,” Wazito FC Chief Executive Officer Dennis Gicheru said as quoted by the club’s official website.
Badoer invested heavily in the team by adding more players in the squad that posted impressive results last season but this season, their form has deteriorated.
Wato Fc Stadium
Wazito FC’s dream of owning a brand new stadium could become a reality soon with design work almost complete. The club president Ricardo Badoer released the latest design of the stadium that will give fans a chance to sit closer to the area of action as it has no running track around it. According to the Dubai-based businessman, the project will take three years to complete.
Wato Fc Captain Dennis Gicheruy named New Club CEO
Wazito FC captain Dennis Gicheru who is also a lawyer by profession is out battling with a knee injury. Dennis Gicheru was named the new club CEO. According to the Wazito President Ricardo Badoer, Gicheru will be given an option to either pursue his football career once he recovers or to fully decide to take up the new role. Badoer said this when he confirmed the appointment of the lawyer.
“As part of our policy of nurturing and exposing talents outside the realm of active football play, we wish to confirm that the club has appointed Dennis Gicheru as the club CEO effective immediately as he recovers and recuperates from his injury,” Ricardo said. On his part, Gicheru thanked the club and stated that he will work with everyone to ensure that the club is successful on and off the pitch.
